CHROMEX 6

Chromex 6 is a nickel based material that has proven to exhibit better resistance to sulphuric acid than Monel. In addition Chromex 6, due to its molybdenum composite structure, has good resistance to hydrochloric acid, particularly strong concentrations.

It has proven to be effective in a broad range of acidic and chloride environments. In high temperature applications, the coating sealed with a high temperature sealer such as Furan, should also be considered for use up to 600° C.

CHROMEX 20

Chromex 20 is a specially formulated wire that produces excellent self-bonding characteristics.

Chromex 20 is recommended where a one step coating is required for a very thin or feather edge coating. This low shrink material also allows heavy deposits to be applied with superior machining properties by milling, grinding or turning.

Chromex 20 offers very good wet corrosion resistance and high temperature oxidation resistance at up to 1000°C. It can therefore be used where there is an aqueous corrosion problem or as a wear resistant coating in corrosive environments.

MOLYBDENUM

When Arc Sprayed MSSA Molybdenum exhibits excellent adhesion to steels and is used as a bond coat where other methods of preparation are impossible or undesirable. Coating hardness can be controlled over a wide range. Coatings exhibit good bearing properties and high resistance to galling, scuffing and “pick-up” as well as good wear and abrasion resistance. MSSA 75
ARCBOND

MSSA 75 Arcbond is a unique nickel-aluminium alloy wire for use in arc spray systems.  75 Arcbond, a pre-alloyed wire, produces superior bond coats that are dense and resistant to high temperature oxidation, thermal shock and abrasion. The material is equally suitable as a one step coat, for example, arc spraying.

The unusual self-bonding ability of the alloy is attributed to the exceptionally high temperatures the nickel-aluminium reaches and which on impact with the base material, diffuses to form a metallurgical bond.  Measured bond strengths have been determined to be 55 percent higher than those formed by exothermic reactions of nickel and aluminium mixtures -- the previous materials available to demonstrate such self- bonding characteristics. One of the major problems in achieving high quality, well-bonded coatings in any thermal spray process is the costly, extensive preparation of the substrate. 75 Arcbond eliminates the problem. The coating, through extensive testing, has also been found to be superior to exothermic materials in sharp edge and impact loading.

75 Arcbond is self-bonding to a broad range of smooth metal surfaces including annealed or hardened carbon steels, annealed or hardened alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminium, nickel, cast iron, titanium and tantalum.  It is not self-bonding to copper based alloys or tungsten.

MSSA 90

MSSA 90 is an Arc Spray wire that produces a hard, abrasive and corrosive resistant coating. This wire has the unique property of work hardening in service. This material can operate in an environment up to 870 °C. Grinding and lapping techniques can provide ‘chrome like’ finishes.

MSSA 90 is primarily used as an interface to resist hard abrasive contact. A 0.25mm thick coating will exhibit impressive elasticity for a coating this hard.

The coating produced by MSSA 90 is comparable to that produced by plating or plasma technologies. This is due to its excellent surface finish, good bond strength, high deposit efficiency, low coefficient of friction, high deposition rates and overall ease of application.

MSSA 95 (cored wire)

MSSA 95 produces hard, abrasive and corrosion resistant coatings. MSSA 95 is a material that under surface friction transforms to an amorphous/ Nano crystalline structure, thereby increasing hardness in service. MSSA 95-S (cored wire)

MSSA 95-S is a cored Arc Spray wire that gives high impact resistance and excellent wear protection across a range of environments. Superior bond strength values signify this wire has exceptional adhesion and cohesion. High adhesion values highlight extremely low residual stress (even at high thicknesses) inherent in this coating type. High cohesion values means the probability of “pull-out” of individual particles during service under wear, erosion and other conditions is extremely low.

The MSSA 95-S exhibits high impact and excellent wear resistance while
maintaining high toughness. MSSA 95-S under the right conditions can be sprayed up to 1.5mm thick.
