The abrasive qualities of man-made fibres, particularly nylon and polyester, as well as the corrosive characteristics of additives such as fibre finishes and lubricants combine together to deteriorate yarn contact surfaces. The result is costly downtime for replacement of machinery parts, or even worse, the degrading of yarn quality. Metal/Thermal Spray coatings help textile mills regarding maintaining various plant equipment to keep away degrading factors like corrosion, wear, erosion and abrasion.

MSSA supply the Textile Industry with solutions for coating protection from wear and tear on equipment including, but not limited to: draw rolls, separator rolls, finish applicator rolls, take-up rolls, thread guides, feed separators, pins, rolls, guide bars, sleeves, snick pins, heater plates, weaving shuttles, tension washers and heater plates.

Both metals and ceramics can be applied dependent upon the operational characteristics under which the component is being subjected. For instance, Goddet rolls used for guiding and drawing of the yarn are coated with Chrome Oxide using Atmospheric Plasma Spray or they can also be coated by using Rokide® C rods or Flexicord®. The Chrome Oxide gives good resistance to mechanical friction and good abrasion resistance.
